Review: The Witching Pen by Dianna Hardy

Goodreads Synopsis (Book One of The Witching Pen Novellas) It's hard being the most powerful witch on the planet. It's even harder when you're a twenty-five year old virgin who'll lose all of that power the moment you sleep with someone ... that's why Elena's never slept with her best friend and flatmate, Karl, despite the true feelings they harbour for each other. Elena's about to discover that there are even more difficult things in life to deal with. One of them comes in the form of a pen she discovers one day, a pen that allows anything she writes to come to pass... Suddenly, it's not just her powers or her heart that's at stake, but her very soul, as a dream demon with a seductive pull uses the pen to try and turn her away from her reality, and from Karl. But the pen is just the beginning. Everything Elena has believed in is a lie, and her world is about to fall apart... Includes the bonus short story, Wilted (A Witching Pe...

Review: Cemetery Moon by Beth Gualda

Synopsis Following the murder of her beloved father, Mya Cotton is left bitter, heartbroken, and…a secret trust inheritance of two million dollars.  With it comes a neglected cemetery called Idlewild, which her father specifically gives to her because it is sentimental to him.  As Mya sets out to solve the mystery of the cemetery, her anger is fueled by Marco De La Zahn,  the equally bitter, unnaturally handsome estate attorney who courts her.  In stark contrast, showing up on her doorstep one night is her homeless new groundskeeper, Percival Shelby, another curiously handsome man, who speaks of love and caring for others as the key to true happiness.  It’s only when Mya makes a life changing decision that she learns the real identity of the two men in her life vying for her love, and is able to solve Idlewild’s final mystery and fulfill her father‘s last wishes. It was clear very early on that I would enjoy Cemetery Moon. Beth's strong narrative and...

With this hop, the main objective is to follow! You can find great new blogs, visit some of your favorite blogs and see how they all answer the question.  This is my first Feature & Follow so bare with me guys. Q: Happy Father’s Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why? A: It would have to be Bella's dad, Charlie Swan, from Twilight. He has such an amazing, dry sense of humour. He was the character who I really enjoyed as he had such fantastic one liners.     Now, tell me, who is your favorite dad in a book? Leave me a comment. Coming Up: Cemetery Moon by Beth Gualda

Cemetery Moon has been sitting on my tbr pile, stack, mound even for a while now. I know that I shouldn't complain that I have so many books to read and review, because I seriously do love it, but boy oh boy do I have a stack of them! Anyhow, Cemetery Moon by Beth Gualada sounds like an impressive read. It's currently carrying many 4 and 5 star reviews on Amazon; however, there are so very few reviews which I know is so very frustrating for authors. I know how important honest reviews are for authors, so as always, I will ensure that when the time comes by review will be just that! Synopsis Following the murder of her beloved father, Mya Cotton is left bitter, heartbroken, and…a secret trust inheritance of two million dollars.  With it comes a neglected cemetery called Idlewild, which her father specifically gives to her because it is sentimental to him.  As Mya sets out to solve the mystery of the cemetery, her anger is fueled by Marco De La Zahn,  the equally b...

Review: Promise (Soul Savers) by Kristie Cook

Goodreads Synopsis Alexis Ames decides to learn who she really is, with or without the help of her mother, who guards their secrets closely. After meeting Tristan Knight and discovering that he's not normal either, the secrets begin to unravel. Their union brings promise to the future of mankind. But it also incites a dangerous pursuit by the enemy. Because they are a match made in Heaven and in Hell. I was completely hooked by this book from the moment I picked it up. The passion between Alexis and Tristan is almost palpable. The emotions were so well developed and described, that it was almost impossible to not become completely immersed in their lives and their relationship. Kristie Cook has created an impressive novel, one that is full of action, tension and drama that unravels beautifully as the narrative progresses. It's been a while since I felt an emotional connection to the characters; there were distinctive moments in this novel that I became cross and sad; admi...

Review: The Heart of War by Lisa Beth Darling (18+)

Amazon Synopsis WARNING: This novel is intended for ADULTS ONLY.  It is not recommended for the faint of heart.  It contains several scenes of graphic sex and violence. Inside the Heart of every Warrior breathes the Soul of a Hero--even within The Heart of War. Meet Ares God of War, the greatest Warrior the world has ever known. He's moody, grumpy, dominant, ravenously sexual, and above all, built like a Greek God. Suspected of killing his Daughter in-Law, Psyche, and long in exile from Olympus, the solitude of Ares' secluded Greek Isle is interrupted when Magdalena MacLeod a plucky little Fey washes up on his shore after believing she's been shipwrecked. It's not mere fate that has brought the unlikely couple together yet it may be what tears them apart. Branded with a golden chastity belt bearing the mark of Cernunnos, Celtic God of the Forest and Death, Alena has been on the run from her husband the Great Horned God for 200 years. When the Olympians dis...

Facebook 300 Followers Giveaway

I tend to use Facebook as my main link to the blogger and book community and use my blog as a platform for my reviews. I'm not sure this is the 'right' way to blog, after all I'm still very new to blogging, but it works for me. Considering I've only being blogging and have had my new Facebook page for a little less than a month, I'm really loving being a part of the book community. I've already made so many friends and am loving the opportunity to talk books, life and often general randomness. This is a great way for me to relax in the evening and at weekends, so thank you. Bex 'n' Books facebook has been so successful, over 300 likes in less than a month (amazing!), and this is due to the wonderful pages that I was already following who have gone on to show and share their support. So if you are one of the many Facbook pages that I follow, particularly actively follow, thank you so very much. I also wanted to take the opportunity to t...

Review: A Cat’s Chance in Hell (The Hellcat Series – Book 1) by Sharon Hannaford

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 4 out of 5 Fairies Love ‘old skool’ Anita Blake, the sassy Chloe Neill’s Merit and bad-ass Riley Jenson? Then I have no doubt that you’ll think Gabi is a pretty awesome and equally ruthless heroine and Demon Hunter. In book one of The Hellcat Series, we are thrown into Gabi’s world of danger and constant action. There’s certainly no rest for a Hellcat! Gabi, the protagonist, is not only a pretty amazing Demon Hunter, but she’s an unusual supe, one that’s set to cause a ripple if the Vamps, Demons and generally every other supe that you can think of, realise what she is. Gabi is somewhat of an anomaly. She’s not an overly complex character, which is surprisingly refreshing. She works for the SMV which is the organisation whose mission is to protect humankind from the baddy supernaturals; she also daylights in an ordinary job using her extraordinary power that she has with animals. However, she isn’t portrayed as a woman with a desperate desire to fit in...
