Review: Die Laughing - Louis K. Lowy

Reviewer: Kay Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies Die Laughing is a dark comedy sci-fi story set in Las Vegas in 50s America and centres around a stand up comedian called Sam. E Lakeside. Sam has just got the break he's been waiting for, a chance to leave the seedy bars and comedy clubs behind for a booking on the Steve Allen Show. Finally, he's going make it big; that is until a mobster puts a contract out on him for messing with his girlfriend. Just as Sam is digging his own shallow grave in the Nevada desert with a gun aimed at him, the unimaginable happens. Sam, and the would be assassin, Francis, and his tough sexy girlfriend, Cricket, are all abducted by aliens... Die Laughing is not normally the type of story I go for, but I'm so glad I did. The plot is very well written as are the characters. Each of them very individual and each with their own inner demons. The story moves at a fast pace and has many jokes and quips peppered all the way through it. There are many ...

Review: The Story Of My Heart - Margarita Felices

Reviewer: Kay Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies The Story of my Heart is a romance set in a little village in the valleys of Wales and centres around Megan a divorced single mum. The story opens with Megan and her neighbour talking about the impending arrival of the fair and carnival which was last in town 15 years ago. Whilst sitting at the kitchen table, Megan begins to reminisce about the events which occurred 15 years previous when she met a fairground worker called Dave....and that is all I'm going to say about that as I wouldn't want to spoil it for you.   I can, however, guarantee that at the end of the story you WILL panic and then wail - just like I did. I can't believe Ms Felices did that to me!! You can't leave me hanging like that! I was sucked in good and proper. I was whizzing through the pages; I couldn't get enough and then BAM! It's all over ...NOOOOO! My Kindle almost went flying.   As always, Ms Felices' writing is impeccable, fluid and...

Review: Deceiving Destiny (#2 Bleeding Hearts) by Nadège Richards

Reviewer: Kay Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies Deceiving Destiny is the second installment from The Bleeding Heart Trilogy. After reading Burning Bridges, I was left desperate for more, and Ms Richards did not disappoint. Deceiving Destiny picks up right where Burning Bridges left off, and the transition is seamless. There's nothing worse than a sequel that spends half the book going over something I already know, and thankfully Ms Richards spares us this tiresome task. Almost instantly, I was immersed back in the lives and the journey of Echo and Ayden who are not just fighting for their own lives but for that of their friends and families. Echo has now grown into the role of princess, although she does not see herself that way, but she has accepted that others do. Echo is stronger than when we first met her. The people now look to her as a source of reassurance and guidance, and she lives up to this. I really wanted to see how the romantic relationship between Echo and Ay...

Review: She-Wolf (Blood #0.5) by Elizabeth Morgan

She - Wolf is a supernatural erotic romance set in Scotland. It centres around Owen and his werewolf pack and the problems that they face, including his difficult relationship with Clare whose heart he broken five years earlier. This is the first full length novel I've read from Ms Morgan and having read two novellas previously, which I loved, I was very excited to see what she could do with a feature length so to speak and let me tell you she did NOT disappoint! I love her writing style she gives just enough detail without taking away your imagination which is a difficult thing to do; it's easy to waffle on and describe everything in detail which in my opinion bores the reader. Ms Morgan, however, gives just enough which allows the reader to paint a very vivid picture, if the story says the bar the characters are in is sleazy and seedy, then Ms Morgan gives just enough to make you feel it! I really loved this book; the story grabs you from the start and doe...

Review: Razel Dazzle by Elizabeth Morgan

Razel Dazzle is a short re-telling of the Rapunzel story but set in the world of fashion in modern day New York. This book is approximately 68 pages long, but Ms Morgan packs a lot into them. The first page sucks you into the world of Gabriella D'Punz, a very successful woman who owns the Ivory Tower Modelling Agency, and right from the beginning you know this lady is going to be a nasty piece of work and she does not disappoint. I felt so sorry for poor Razel being trapped in such a horrible life with a vile woman who is her agent first and mother second; she controls every aspects of Razel's life to the point that the poor girl can't breathe. The beautiful supermodel has everything she could want, except freedom to live her own life. However, her prince charming, Matthew Prince, comes to rescue her and what a rescue it is! The story moved very quickly but didn't lack in quality which is vital, especially when it's a short story. Ms Morgan is a no non...

Review: The Collector (The Overseers #1) by Elizabeth Morgan

Let me start by saying what wonderful story; I loved this book! It's approximately 114 pages long, but it was lovely, a perfect read for a couple of quiet hours in the afternoon. The story and characters are beautifully written and Kale is gorgeous! Even though the the book is short, it doesn't feel empty and the story isn't rushed. The characters and plot are well-rounded and believable. The book is full of emotion and deals with life, death, pain and love. Ms Morgan has given us a peek into a world which I would love to know more about. This book I feel is an introduction to something bigger and better and I really hope we get to read more about the world of Kale and his beginnings and the other characters that were touched on. This could well be the launch of a fantastic series which I would definitely want to read. The only downside to this book is that it wasn't longer - I want more! I didn't want it to end. The Collector is definitely a ...

Review: Sovereign Pleasures by J.V.K

Goodreads Synopsis *Caution This is for 18+ contains Man on Man Sexual encounter. A set of five short steamy stories. It takes you to the realm where pain and pleasure collide, taking you on a breath taking ride you will not forget. Meet the men of Sovereign Pleasures, and listen to their stories of their pain... and their pleasure... Sovereign Pleasures is a collection of five very short stories that dip into the world of man on man BDSM erotica. These shorts are very explicit and not for the fainthearted and therefore not to everyone's taste. These stories are well written and have the feel of excerpts from five individual novels. I feel all five have a lot of potential to be expanded as these little snippets give only a teasing glimpse of what could be to come. I enjoyed this selection, but I have to confess there was one aspect of Spoiled Love that made me uncomfortable and that was the age of one of  the characters but I read through imagining him to be older...

Review: The Phantom Pilot by Ann Swann

Synopsis "Whatever you do, don't go in the spooky old house.  No matter who dares you, no matter what lures you, do not go in." When a small plane crashes into Jase’s backyard, the ghost of the pilot decides to stick around.  He doesn’t really want to haunt Jase, but since he is now more phantom than pilot, that’s just what happens.  Jase knows he needs a brave soul to help him figure out what the pilot wants, so when he sees Stevie entering the town’s legendary haunted house, he is certain she’s the one.  Can he convince Stevie to help him, or will the pilot live in his closet forever? What a brilliant story! I loved this and so did my daughter. It's only approximately 87 pages long, but there was so much in it that I didn't want it to end. It was like a step back in time and even one of my favorite bands Creedence Clearwater Revival got a mention which made my day.  The Phantom Pilot is a ghost story set in the sixties and the heroine Stevie, wh...

Goodreads Synopsis When Ethan Rice was four years old, he was diagnosed with high-functioning autism. While each child on the spectrum has unique challenges and strengths, Ethan’s Story; My Life with Autism is Ethan’s own story. Wow! What a beautiful story! Review: The Psychic by Margarita Felices

Goodreads Synopsis Beryl Parker grew up in the old world of fairgrounds and con artists. After years of wedded bliss with Charlie, they had managed the best con ever! But a year later, Charlie dies, leaving Beryl penniless and in hiding. One day while walking through a local market, she sees a sign for a fortune teller and sits nearby to listen in on what was going on. It was perfect! Such a great scam. It wasn't long before she's set up her own stall and five years later, she's living in a grand Victorian house in the best part of Cardiff. She has money in the bank and takes luxurious holidays. But Beryl should watch out who she reads to, because sometimes they come back for more. What a little gem of a story! I really loved this and I found I couldn't put it down. What a cracker! This is the second story from Ms Felices that I've had the pleasure of reading and yet again she has delivered the goods.  What a tale of the unexpected it was!  ...
