Review: Born - Tara Brown

Born by Tara Brown Danielle's rating: 4.5 of 5 stars   Honestly, as soon as I started reading this, I just couldn’t put it down. Emma lives in a world where it is everyone for themselves, she has had to fight for her survival and she’s the best at what she does. When she finds herself with no choice but to take care of two new arrivals, she discovers that she might actually just be able to rely on other people too. Leo is the first male she’s had contact with in years and she finds herself immediately drawn to him, but then she meets his brother Will. Will brings a whole new set of feelings that she doesn’t really know what to do with and with very real danger around every corner, she doesn’t have time to figure things out either. There are secrets and lies surrounding everyone and most people don’t know the true story behind everything that’s happened to the world. I was so taken by everything to do with Emma’s story, I may have received the ARC of ‘Born’ – but I bou...

Review: The Light of the World - Tara Brown

The Light of the World by Tara Brown Danielle's rating: 4 of 5 stars I can’t say I’ve read anything like this before, but I was definitely surprised – in a good way! I could feel the passion between Wyatt and Rayne, but also their angst and confusion. The book had me sucked in from the beginning, wanting to know more and more. I almost skipped to the end at one point just so I could find out what happens – but I didn’t! Rayne thinks she finally has some freedom by going off to college on her own, but she quickly realises that there was a reason she was told to follow so many rules. Meeting Wyatt turns her world upside down – and his. She soon finds herself learning answers to questions that she hadn’t even asked and her world as she knows it will never be the same. Throw in a love triangle, witches, angels, devils and a cliff hanger – You’ve got yourself one hell of a book.

Review: Haven from the Storm - Sarah Dosher

Haven from the Storm by Sarah Dosher Reviewer: Danielle  I loved this story! A true tale of pain, betrayal, forgiveness and love. Lily and Dean's story played with my emotions, just like a heartfelt book such as this, should! Lily has suffers a tremendous loss and soon finds herself without the one person she needed to get through it. She really has had a tough hand dealt to her in life, but she deals with it in the only way she knows how, avoidance. When Dean shows up, not understanding the damage he caused when he left, she has no intention of allowing him to control her heart the way he once had. Dean can’t believe what has happened to Lily during the years he’s been gone, dealing with his own grief. So it’s up to him to put Lily first and save the girl she used to be. It was a true romance. I enjoyed reading the book and would definitely read more from this author.

Review: Burning Embers - Hannah Fielding

“Gradually the mist had lifted, and the sun burst forth, a ball of fire radiating the sky with unnaturally incandescent hues. Coral was reminded of the strident brushwork and wild colours of the Fauvist paintings that filled her mother's gallery, which Coral had always loved. The scene was now set for the show to begin: the drama in which the broad, breath-taking landscapes of Africa were the stage and the animals the actors.”   Burning Embers by Hannah Fielding Reviewer: Danielle Rating: 4.5 Wow! This story was like nothing I’d ever read before, I’ll even admit I was sceptical at first, not sure if it would be ‘my sort of thing’. I shouldn’t have been worried. Set in Africa in 1970, the descriptions of the lands around Kenya really paint a vivid picture of the setting and each new place seems to add to the story. The story of Rafe and Coral’s relationship has many bumps in the road and hurdles to overcome, caused by both themselves and others. I loved having something d...
