Review: Between a Scot and a Hard Place by Austyn Faulkner

Between a Scot and a Hard Place by Austyn Faulkner Bex's rating: 4.5 of 5 stars A great romantic comedy which provided plenty of entertaining moments. Sabra and Christian are fun characters with lots of hilarious examples of banter which had me laughing out loud. With lots of fast-paced action and amusing dialogue, this book is a very entertaining read. Up until now, her life had been uneventful, downright dull even. And then her boss died and left her a large sum of money. However, there was a condition to which she had to meet in order to obtain the wealth left to her. She had to take the cremated ashes of her deceased boss to Scotland and spinkle them on the snow-covered, green hills. Sinc...

Review: Right Click - Lisa Becker

Right click by Lisa Becker Bex's rating: 54.5 of 5 stars Continued to be written in the same, pretty awesome email style as the first two books in this trilogy, Right Click pushes Renee and Ethan, and their friends, along beautifully. There were a few interesting surprises along the way, which I didn't see coming immediately. This is a testament to the author's ability to successfully weave a tale. As such, this final instalment was a great read, one that I enjoyed more than book two. The characters developed in ways I was really pleased to see and it ended just as I hoped. A great read.

It's always reassuring when an author continues to push her characters, often in ways unexpected. Dianna Hardy successfully manages that in 'Return Of The Wolf'. The characters, who I have pretty serious crushes on, contin...

Review: Secret Maneuvers - Jessie Lane

Secret Maneuvers by Jessie Lane My rating: 4 of 5 Fairies Secret Maneuvers successfully captured my attention and held it through the entire story. I enjoyed the concept, the writer's style and the characters. Both Bobby and Belle we likeable and had elements of realism to their reactions, mannerisms and relationship. This is an aspect that I especially enjoyed. The was a good level of drama and a whole array of tension. The heat between the two main characters was hot. A thoroughly enjoyable read and a series that I can happily continue reading. Secret Maneuvers  (Ex Ops #1) by   Jessie Lane   (Goodreads Author) Librarian Note: Alt/new cover edition for ISBN# 9781301452095. Some mistakes from the past haunt us forever... unless fate steps in with a second chance. One 'dear John' letter haunts Bobby Baker's every living moment. Review: Corruption of the Soul by J.L. Vallance

Corruption of the Soul by J.L. Vallance Bex's rating: 4.5 of 5 stars Aedan and Evangeline are such an amazing couple to follow. Both characters are extremely well formed and created; this meant that getting up close and personal with them in Corruption of the Soul was a treat. For a short, there was fabulous sense of completion and a solid narrative structure. This ensured that I was left feeling content with the length, especially considering the level of depth, power and passion evident in both of these characters and the narrative detail. Once again, J.L. Vallance has produced a read that I loved. Corruption of the Soul  (The Guild Series 0.5) by   J.L. Vallance   (Goodreads Author) "Love conquers all--but sometimes, it destroys everything you are." It's a story that's been told since the dawn of time. Boy meets girl. They fall madly in love, for happiness is written in the stars. Their one true fate is to have happily ever a...

Release Day Review: Conflicted Love - Lola Stark

Lola Stark's Conflicted Love is book two in her amazing contemporary romance/erotica series. Conflicted Love picks up where book one, Tattered Love left off. This meant that we are in the thick of Trip and Teeny's unfolding drama. And what a whole lot of amazing drama it is.   I loved book one, but damn, this second installment is off the charts amazing. It was fun. It was sexy. It was emotional and it was tender. And of course, it was as funny as hell! Lola Stark's writing has developed beautifully, yet her signature style is still very apparent.  Filled with sex scenes that are hot, graphic and sensual, conflicted Love will have you desperate to seek a private space alone or jumping your other half! Truly, it's amazingly hot, even more so when it's between characters that we now and love. It was easy to feel connected to Lola Stark's characters.  A fabulous read! Be sure to follow on with the author's amazing characters in her Needle's ...

Review: The Warlord's Concubine - J.E. Keep

The Warlord's Concubine by J.E. Keep Reviewer: Bex  The Warlord's Concubine is a hot read. The storyline provides enough substance to keep you reading and enough conflict to keep it interesting. It's a erotic fantasy read, so there's little sense of realism; the author controls her world well and creates a strong visual setting. I didn't especially bond well with the main character, Mirella, but I was interested enough to keep following. The spice level is definitely a 4, helping this book to be a 3.5 fairy read. If you're looking for a short, spicy and quick read then most definitely check this one out.

Review: Permanent - Kim Carmichael

Permanent by Kim Carmichael Reviewer: Bex  Rating: 4 out of 5 Fairies Permanent is a sweet romance. The characters are loveable and endearing. Shane is the epitome of sexy-sweet, not necessarily what I was expecting from this book, but refreshingly different. Admittedly, it took me a while to warm up to the book. The first few chapters were a little predictable and the style was a little rigid; however, by the time I was 1/4 of the way through, I quickly fell in love with the tension and romance of the story, and the words flew off the page so quickly that I virtually inhaled the book. I would have expected a little more steaminess, yet, the romance kept me entertained. Overall, Permanent was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Review: Reflect Me - K.B. Webb

Reflect Me by K.B. Webb Reviewer: Bex Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Fairies Reflect Me provides a read that is bittersweet. I laughed out loud, shouted constantly and cried on numerous occasions. The author's ability to move her reader through such an array of intense and varied emotions is a true and accurate reflection of her skill and creativity. K.B. Webb successfully brought her characters and their experiences to life through their gritty and raw experiences, mixed in beautifully with palpable tension and hot romance. Exactly my sort of book! The pace was effectively controlled, producing a quick, well-paced narrative filled with character highs and lows. This kept me engaged and thoroughly absorbed. If you enjoy hot, heavy mixed with a little bit of heartbreak, then be sure to check out this fabulous read.

Release Reviews & Giveaway: Alive - Megan D. Martin & Theirs to Play - Kenya Wright

Kenya Wright & Megan D. Martin are giving away all kinds of goodies in celebration of releasing their new novels including a  $100  Amazon GC, over 35 different  ebooks  by some awesome authors, and a free  cover design  by J Sheats.  Reviewer: Justine Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies Oh Ms. Wright, how I love and hate you right now! Theirs To Play is a book about two deprived, narcissistic, soulless brothers learning about life and the woman who doles out the lessons. And I love every glorious dirty-sexy second of it! Think modern Cruel Intentions but with brothers. Reading how Dawn schools this naughty twosome made this one of my favorite books of the year! But Miss Wright, I am a stickler for endings and yours has me torn. I hate how the story just ends with what felt like a minimal conclusion, but damn, does this woman know how to write one mean epilogue! Kenya had me salivating for what would come next and ready to take a bite out of her a...

Tour Review: Child of the Sacred Earth - Alicia Michaels

Reviewer: Bex Rating 4 out of 5 Fairies I thoroughly enjoyed Alicia Michaels' latest installment in her The Lost Kingdom of Fallada series. It was a great read and was once again a book that was well-crafted and easy to absorb. The main character Jocylene was a character that I enjoyed from the start. I was able to empathize with her and readily wanted to follow her journey. Her journey, just as book one, is a pretty epic one. The author creates such a vivid fantasy world, it's impossible not to get caught up in it. Also like book one, there is a clear romance running through, yet remarkable and refreshingly, the author doesn't follow the same pattern. She really mixes it up with book two. We are introduced to the strong and determined Rothatin, who is a fierce and loyal warrior. We are also introduced to Eli, a complex, yet utterly gorgeous shifter. Cue fireworks and frustration! I was most definitely left wanting more, yet I was also a little frustrated wi...

Release Day Review & Giveaway: Becoming Invisible - Tiffany Carmouche

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies Readers are thrown deep into the action in the opening of Becoming Invisible by the talented author Carmouche. It is clear that the author wants to immerse her reader into the unfolding drama and continue to feel the palpable tension from book two, Obsession and Sacrifice. All of this is achieved with well-crafted dialogue and with a pace that will leave readers gasping for breath. Becoming Invisible will take fans of Carmouche's gripping series onto a roller-coaster ride of heartache, passion and tension. All three will leave readers with their heart's pounding and with the desperate desire to know what's in store for the fabulous characters in this series. Alas, the author does it again. She's determined to keep her readers desperate and waiting for answers. This cliff-hanger ending in Becoming Invisible is at its best. Truly, the author has out done herself with this climatic ending. An ending that will have r...

Tour Review & Giveaway: Let Love Stay - Melissa Collins

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 4.5 Fairies The first thing that was obvious after just a short few chapters was that I believed in the author's world and her characters. Collins has created well-crafted three-dimensional characters who are deeply human. This immediately pulled me in and kept me hooked. The unfolding drama surrounding Maddy and Reid was as endearing as it was frustrating. The descriptive detail was beautiful, and their reactions moving, yet there were times that I felt somewhat old. Dang it! Perhaps being in my mid-thirties, is making me a little more cynical?  Yet despite my bouts of feeling a little out of touch with the turmoil and emotions of a new adult, there were many levels that I could relate to the characters and their histories. There's just enough back story to help remind us about the events of book one, Let Love In, without it becoming too repetitive, and the story line has enough depth to challenge the reader, whilst still enabling it to becom...

Tour Review: The Impostor - Tiffany Carmouché

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Fairies New author, first nov el, and wow - what an amazing job Tiffany Carmouche has done. There wasn't a moment that I wasn't engaged with the characters or the plot. I was able to read this novel in two sittings; I had on planned on it being more (simply because I was tired and needed sleep), yet on the first night of reading it, I attempted to put it down, but my mind won the battle. I had to keep reading. I simply had to discover what happened next. The build up of mystery and tension in this suspenseful romantic novel is superbly done. I found myself constantly holding my breath and nervously listening for creaks in the house. There were some beautifully crafted romantic moments that had me swooning for Dylan, and several moments when I shed a tear. Stunning! The novel flowed very well, effectively creating a good balance of suspense, character interaction and the lovely romance. I did figure out fairly early on what was ha...

Review: Eternity - Kim Carmichael

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 3 out of 5 Fairies Eternity was a sweet and sexy read. I enjoyed reading it and absorbed it quickly. The characters, Therin and Lucy, are likeable characters and easy to follow. There's lots of mystery and an attempt at a back story surrounding both of these characters, especially Therin's, that's never fully divulged or explored which was a shame; this held the characters from fully developing or me really appreciating all that Therin had experienced. There was just enough meat on the characters for me to appreciate this novella for its sweetness. At times it was sexy, although, I felt that the novella only just ventured into the realm of erotica. If you're a newbie into the world of erotica and enjoy paranormal reads, Eternity is a pretty perfect starting point. Likewise, more seasoned readers of both genres will no doubt enjoy Eternity and get a nice romance fix in a quick and enjoyable read.

Tour Review: Piercing Through the Darkness - Emerald Barnes

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 3 out of 5 Fairies Piercing through the Darkness follows the lives of Kandi and Jonathan, as they both embark on a journey of pain, letting go and dealing with a past that haunt them. This YA psychological thriller, is filled with well-developed tension and characters that are easy to understand and follow. The plot structure moves at a pace with significant highs and lows, allowing the reader to pause for breath before the action builds up again. There were many moments that took me by surprise and had me doing a double take. It was this aspect of the book that I especially liked. At times, I felt that the narrative was a little too simplistic, and I would have liked the characters to have extra depth, especially considering the emotions evident in this book. As an adult reader, a more sophisticated style and language choices would have helped my to become better absorbed. No doubt, however, younger readers will find the style more than appropriate,...

Review & Giveaway: The Captain's Christmas - Leona Bushman

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 4 out of 5 Fairies The Captain's Christmas proved to be a sexy, fun and action packed read. What immediately piqued my interest and was definitely an element that I enjoyed was the sci-fi genre that this hot and sexy read falls into. This really helped the book have an original concept. Bushman successfully weaves a tale of an exciting rescue mission with deception at every turn, and a whole lot of sexiness thrown into the mix. The plot develops at a sound pace with many highs and lows, creating a fast, enjoyable read. The author's creation of her main character, Captain Faraway Hastings, was particularly successful. She created a strong female lead who I happily cheered for. A thoroughly enjoyable sexy sci-fi fairies.
