Review: Lunden's Game - Robert D. Rose

Lunden's Game by Robert D. Rose Ann's rating: 5 of 5 stars I loved this book from the first chapter. You get sucked in to the story from the second page and it doesn’t let go. There are spies, robberies, cool electronics and mystery. You also have Nazi’s, government agencies and all sorts of wonderful bad guys. The story isn’t straightforward but instead takes unexpected twists and turns and I loved it. This is not a book you are going to figure out before the end and that makes it a true treat. Lunden is a complicated and interesting character with a lot of past and an uncertain future. He has lived his life and you realize that you won’t ever really know him. But that doesn’t matter. He is totally engaging. And then there’s David, who is completely over his head, but such an important part of the total story. I want you to understand just how low my tolerance is for bad spy stories is. I have a list of them that I will never try to read again because I figured out th...

Review: Price of Justice - Alan Brenham

Reviewer: Charlee Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies I honestly couldn't wait to start reading Price of Justice. I love a good crime thriller; however, I often find myself disappointed by boring storylines and nothing to grip me. BUT, I have to say, this book was awesome! It's well written with plenty going on to keep my brain busy.  Following the story of a cop, Jason Scarsdale is trying to adjust to life following the death of his beloved wife, while struggling to be everything his little girl needs him to be, and still catch the sickos on the street, of which there are many! Scarsdale finds a friend in the form of Dani, who also works at the precinct, and together, with his daughter, Shannon, they get on like a house on fire.  But Dani has secrets of her own and could unwittingly bring a whole world of trouble to Scarsdale and Shannon. Scarsdale must do what is best for Shannon despite breaking his own, and Shannon's heart by doing it. Fighting custody battles with...

Review: Skeletons of Birkbury by Diana J. Febry

When I first started to read Skeletons of Birkbury by Diana J. Febry, I felt it moved very slowly and I was boggled down with a lot of details. That being said, it is very well written and successfully takes you into the world this author has created.   The characters are the best part of this book!  I liked the realism of the characters.  They had faults, they had positive and negative traits. They are so believable and with the vivid detail the author gives, it feels like you have known them forever.   This is a very British mystery and you won't find a charted and nicely laid out story line that will allow you to figure out the ending; the twists and turns the author creates leaves you guessing until the very end, which is always a plus in this reader's eyes.  After all, where is the fun of a mystery if you can figure out the ending in a couple of chapters?  If you like Mysteries, this book is for you.  I give it 4 ½ r...
