Reviewer: Bex Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies The Brown House is so much more than a ghost story; it combines an endearing romance, a young woman's coming of age and marvels at the wonders of family and friendship. Christy Sloat's writing style is simplistically beautiful. It manages to capture the protagonist's inner turmoil and personality as she (Brylee) ventures through a journey of self-discovery and mystery. There is a powerful atmospheric charge throughout the entire novel that effectively keeps the reader gripped and wanting Brylee to succeed in her many endeavours. The narrative is superbly paced with the build-up tension successfully created, so much so, no doubt the reader will be listening out to creaks in their house and searching for a blanket to read under. The mysterious events and blossoming relationships evident in the book all come together satisfactorily, with a few significant twists along the way that will keep the reader second guessing...
