Christy Sloat's writing style is simplistically beautiful. It manages to capture the protagonist's inner turmoil and personality as she (Brylee) ventures through a journey of self-discovery and mystery. There is a powerful atmospheric charge throughout the entire novel that effectively keeps the reader gripped and wanting Brylee to succeed in her many endeavours. The narrative is superbly paced with the build-up tension successfully created, so much so, no doubt the reader will be listening out to creaks in their house and searching for a blanket to read under. The mysterious events and blossoming relationships evident in the book all come together satisfactorily, with a few significant twists along the way that will keep the reader second guessing...

My Process!  I write for myself. I love stories and since my imagination always runs wild, I have a lot to write about. When I get a story into my head, I sit down and outline. I sometimes write character notes. I write down the most important scenes on Post-Its and stick them in my notebook so that if something needs to be changed it’s an easy fix. Then I sit down and go for it. Sometimes I get a little shy and worried that I might be going too far.
