I love a good crime thriller; however, I often find myself disappointed by boring storylines and nothing to grip me. BUT, I have to say, this book was awesome! It's well written with plenty going on to keep my brain busy.  Following the story of a cop, Jason Scarsdale is trying to adjust to life following the death of his beloved wife, while struggling to be everything his little girl needs him to be, and still catch the sickos on the street, of which there are many! Scarsdale finds a friend in the form of Dani, who also works at the precinct, and together, with his daughter, Shannon, they get on like a house on fire.  But Dani has secrets of her own and could unwittingly bring a whole world of trouble to Scarsdale and Shannon. Starting a new life in New Mexico, Sandy finds herself miles away, in more ways than one, from her hometown of Philadelphia. Everything is different, from the local's beliefs to the children she teaches. When one of her students, Dixon, is being bullied, Sandy walks him home, and is before long welcomed into the Edakee family, who see her as their Aunt. As Sandy spends more time with the Edakee's, she discovers that Dixon being bullied is just the tip of the iceberg for this family, who are being terrorised and threatened because the people believe they are witches. Sandy must prove their innocence and find out who is behind these terrible attacks once and for all, before someone is seriously hurt.  This is a story that will pull at your heart strings many, many times, a tale of loyalty and betrayal, and of course, love. 4 we...

This is a book that will make you experience every emotion available as you follow the story of Lauren, a 15 year old basketball player, through a horrific time in her life. Seeing the story written through her eyes, reading the feelings that she has laid bare for us to see, almost makes you feel like you've been caught snooping through the girl's journal. Truly betrayed by someone who was meant to protect her, Lauren has to experience things that no 15 year old should, and without the support of her family.  Pushed too hard by her dad, ignored by her mum and disliked by her older sister, Lauren feels she has no place to turn when she finds herself in an unimaginable situation. Helped by someone she barely knows, Lauren must stop her secret from getting out, and her future depends on it.  I have nothing but praise for this book, written exactly how I would expect a fifteen year...

Reviewer: Charlee  Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Fairies Traffic Jam, by Melissa Groeling, is a heart-wrenching tale of a naive teenage girl, Val, making her way through the most difficult year of her life. Facing financial difficulty, her family are forced to move from their comfortable home to a small apartment in the city. I found the book was a bit slow and hard to get into in the first 60 pages, but when the pace picked up, I couldn't put it down. Following Val and her sister, Sam, through their problems and fallouts, you can't help but relate when their lives are almost ripped apart.  With Sam's life in danger and Val trying desperately to find out what's wrong with her sister, she struggles to save her from something so terrible that Val's life is threatened too. Helped by an unlikely source, can Val help Sam before it's too late? All in all, a lovely book. Although probably better suited to younger readers, I enjoyed it immensely.
