Tour Review: Ascension - Stacey Rourke

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 4 out of 5 Fairies  Ascension is the fourth instalment in Stacey Rourke's epic Gryphon series. This read offers vivid action and amazing insight into a whole array of characters. The back stories weaved through Ascension successfully added a layer of depth to the characters and the plot, allowing Rourke's characters to become truly three-dimensional.  Ascension was thoroughly entertaining and pushed the story along beautifully. Celeste especially grows into her powers and shows a new level of maturity and acceptance. All of this of course is entwined with the flawless humour and sarcasm.  There are several head-spinning twists and moments where I was left quite verbally ranting at character reactions, all a testament to Rourke's ability to bring her world and characters to life. Book four is far less emotive and therefore not as emotionally engaging than previous books in the series, yet it's purpose and significance is no less si...

Where to start! So yep, I'm a self-confessed addict of everything involving this wonderful series and the Evil Genius Stacey Rourke. Aha! "Evil Genius?" I hear you cry, "Why on earth would such a wonderful author be described in such a manner?" My, oh my, where does one start when tackling such a frigging awesome bloody series with a rock star author to boot! Yep, you got it ... from the beginning! I first stumbled upon Stacey Rourke via Facebook after a bout of pimping from Stacey and her  dedicated  minions, and I think along the way I won my very own ecopy of The Conduit. This was probably about two months before I actually found the time to read it. I just read back my review, and truly wish that I could reread it for the first time all over again. Sometimes, there are those very special books that have the ability to reopen our minds and hearts. One that we could read over and over again. One that we desperately wish we could rediscover for the first t...

Review: The Sidekick Chronicles by Stacey Rourke

Goodreads Synopsis Celeste isn't the only member of the Garrett family whose life changed when destiny called. Every sidekick has their tale and in this Gryphon Series short the spotlight is turned on Kendall, Grams and even Gabe. Get an inside look at the hilarious stress that goes along with being a...sidekick. Sidekicks...ya can't live with 'em and you'd probably die horribly without 'em. It's always a good start when from the first page you laugh out loud, but when it's constant and throughout a short doesn't get much better than this. The Sidekick Chronicles is a superbly witty read that whilst short. It very effectively moves The Gryphon Series plot along preparing us for book three, Sacrifice, that will be released November 2012. Allowing the reader to have an insight from  the three 'sidekicks' point of view is a fabulous idea from Stacey Rourke. Whilst they are characters that we've previously fell in love with, having...

Goodreads Synopsis All 18-year-old Celeste Garrett wants is to head off to college and make those fun, yet ill-advised, choices college kids are known for. And maybe to spend some time with the hot cameraman she just met. Instead, because of a pact her ancestors made in the 17th century with a mythical creature, she has to save the world. While normal kids are slamming energy drinks and cramming for exams, Celeste will get her adrenaline rush fighting a fire breathing dragon. She wants to meet friends in the quad to exchange lecture notes, but first she must exchange blows with a shapeshifting demon on the rooftop. Life isn’t always fair for a superhero, but at least she doesn’t have to do it alone. With her brother and sister as sidekicks, they alternate between saving lives and getting on each others’ nerves. Together the trio encounters unspeakable odds, mystical forces and comes face-to-face with an image that will haunt them forever—their grandmother in a leopard print...
