“Do you want to dance?”
“Yes,” I answered too quickly.
He grinned at me, pulling me with him over into the heart of the music. Then it occurred to me that I had no idea how to dance. I would purposefully step on the foot of every tutor at the castle. Eventually Varric stopped ordering the lessons. Unfortunately, that meant that I never learned how to dance properly.
What if I stepped on his foot?
Or tripped?
Or—
“Come here,” he rumbled, winding an arm around my waist and pulling me into his chest. I gasped when he spun me around.
I lost my balance, face burning up completely when I fell into his arms like a dead fish.
He chuckled, and I was so relieved he found my clumsiness endearing and not embarrassing. The melody rang through my bones, and I steadied myself. I threw my arms around his neck and tried to sway along with the music.
Dear Gods, I have absolutely no rhythm.
“You’re so charming,” he murmured. “But we’re not two virgins at our first festival.” He gripped my hips with either hand, pulling me so close that I could feel his breath against my lips.
My mouth watered, and my mind turned fuzzy for a moment before I responded, “This is my first festival, and I’ve never danced without the intention of stomping on my partner’s foot.”
He laughed. “That sounds like something you’d do.”

During her days, you can find her trying out a new recipe to figure out how to describe it in her writing, daydreaming, or annoying her husband by telling him exactly how the lighting conveys emotion in every movie they watch together.
