Welcome back to the Skeleton Crew. Bring your knitting needles, a good strong brew, and plenty of snacks. You’re going to need them.
Gender-fluid, autistic vampire Hyde Snodgrass is living their best life with their bookshop, cats, and witch girlfriend, Teresa Vega. The colours of autumn are beginning to blend into winter. An ordinarily joyous midwinter is spoiled by the arrival of their estranged family.
When their murderous uncle is found dead in front of their shop, Hyde finds themselves unwillingly dragged into the investigation. Accusations swirl around South Myrddin. It takes a village to untangle the mystery.
Can the true killer be unmasked in time to save them?
Will there be anything to celebrate in the coming Yuletide season?

Shaking the melancholy away, Hyde inched closer to where Aadil Fadel was installing glorious new stained-glass windows. The djinn and glazier had already put in the new shop door, which had equally beautiful and colourful panels inserted within the solid oak. He did amazing work and was incredibly fast.
It had only been a few weeks back when the father of Amalia Bassani, a local succubus and restaurateur, had attempted to burn down the shop after murdering his own son. That had failed. The door and windows had been damaged when Hyde had launched him through it. In their defence, he’d been attempting to kill them.
Aadil had promised to fix up the beloved windows and make them even better. He’d gone above and beyond. It was three panels showing a stunning autumnal view of the village and loch. They had no idea how he’d done it so quickly. The two stained-glass sections in the door showed Mortar and Pestle in all their glorious splendour.
Hyde waved at Aadil, catching his attention. They waited until he had a clear view of their hands and mouth before speaking to him. He had a better handle on lip-reading than they did on BSL, or British Sign Language. “Would you like some tea and biscuits? Or I can run down to Roasted and Toasted for coffee and a pastry?”
Aadil shook his head, signing no. “I’m almost finished. I’ve got another job this afternoon about thirty minutes away, so I can’t hang around.”
Hyde appreciated him signing slowly. It gave them more time to understand what he’d said. “Fair enough. You’re an angel, Aadil. Thank you.”
“Not an angel. A djinn.” He winked; his dark brown eyes always glinted with a hint of mischief. He brushed the dust out of his black hair and beard before raising his hands again. “Any new scrolls for me?”
Hyde spun around to check the shop computer before turning back. “Not yet. I’ve a lead on another Egyptian one, but it might be one I find on my summer adventure.”
“Just let me know.” He tapped his knuckles against the last window. “Putting this one in now. Then I’ll be done.”
