“You’re a doctor, Con. You heal people, not harm them. You took an oath.”
“Patients.” He tilted his head to one side. “I took an oath not to harm any patients.”
“Good grief!” Neve dropped her head into her hands for a moment. “So, you’re telling me my boyfriend is a hairsplitting sociopath. Okay, well, that’s a new piece of information that I’ll have to process later. But for now, there’s no way I’m letting you go to Galway by yourself!”
He almost smiled at the captivating mixture of love, worry, and indignation skittering across her face. But he knew that would set her off, so he forced himself to look sober. “I appreciate that, Neve, and everything that’s behind it. But the fact remains, I’m going, and you’re staying.”
“What? Who the…? I can’t believe….” She huffed and threw her hands in the air. “Well, you may not be aware of this, but tourists have freedom of movement in Ireland!”
“I’m leaving in a few minutes,” Con said, hoping cold, hard logic might get through to her. “By the time you rent a car, I’ll be well gone. You don’t know your way around here, and even Google Maps is only about 70, 75 percent reliable in Ireland. So if you try to follow me, you’ll end up at a B&B in Nad.”
Nad was just down the road, of course, and Eamonn assured him the GPS had improved and was nearly pinpoint perfect. True or not, though, his words had their intended effect. Doubt crept into Neve’e expression.
“You seem excessively unconcerned about ending up in jail!”
“And you seem excessively concerned for the well-being of someone we know to be a right bollocks.”

Dead Sound
(book 1)
books2read.com/deadsoundFollowing the advice to “write what you know,” ANISE EDEN authors psychological suspense and paranormal romance novels. Her qualifications include growing up in the countryside where rattlesnakes and cougars jumped out of nowhere; living with family members who are a little bit psychic; and having her life saved on more than one occasion by her SEAL Team of guardian angels.
After college, Anise soaked up life in NYC, Washington DC, and points in between. She tried her hand at grooming horses, scooping ice cream, and designing billboards before returning to school to become a psychotherapist. Though she left that field after many rewarding years, Anise remains a passionate mental health advocate.
Continuing her real-life adventures, Anise is now exploring life in Ireland with her husband and their small, benevolent canine dictator. While her books have won multiple awards, Anise’s propensity for dropping glass objects while barefoot makes it highly likely that her next win will be a Darwin Award.
