That's right, warriors need love too
and Ares God of War is no different although he used to like to think he was
until Maggie MacLeod came along and turned his world upside down in The
Heart of War book #1 in the OF
WAR Series of highly dark and adult romances.
It hardly seems like that was four
years ago that our hero the grumpy, broody, and often intimidating God of War
found a Fey washed up on the shore of his secluded isle. Of course, being the arrogant god that he is
the very first thing he did was change her name to Alena. Not that she minded,
with the new name came a new woman one with renewed passion.
In all of that time our hero and
heroine have been through many trials and tribulations as they struggled to
build a family and life for themselves away from the divinely dysfunctional
Olympians. Who can ever forget Raven's
harrowing birth or blood oath demanded of Ares by Zeus in Child
of War-A God is Born? Not to mention Raven forcing his pregnant
mother down a very long set of marble stairs.
There have been good times too I think
we all found a new use for peppermint oil in Christmas Eve on
Olympus. (wink)
Of course there was the time that Raven
inadvertently helped to destroy the world in Child of War-Rising Son.
It wasn't all his fault, growing up Olympian ain't easy especially not when
everyone absolutely hates you. With an Uncle like Apollo nobody needs enemies.
In Women of War we
looked back on Maggie's heritage from her great grandmother Shar Draíocht the Last Queen of the Dark Kingdom to her mother the wild and
wanton Maven. We
discovered the secret connection between Alena and her beloved Ares.
Now as we close out the OF WAR Series with
Kingdoms of War it's time to find out if Ares and Alena will have their Happily
Ever After or they will forever be separated by the Gods and their unruly Son.
I hope you'll join me for this explosive finale.
With nearly four billion souls lost to
the ravages of anarchy and the dreaded disease Major Falls, Ares and Raven
journey the Mortal World vainly reaching for a sliver of what was only to
discover what will be. Unleashed by Apollo, Major Falls—a weaponized version of
the flu and rabies-- has wiped out every person of watery Mortal Blood.
From the fiery wreckage a new world is
slowly arising one where the descendants of Olympians, Celts, Dark Fae, and all
manner of Magickal Being will rule. For the last millennium the Dark Kingdom
has sent small legions of its Daughters in search of its Lost Queen. Among
their number is Lenora, a sharp tongued Dark Fae who joins up with ARES hoping
to get close to its leader, Raven. And she does.
The Wolf inside the God of War
contracts Major Falls. As Ares and Athena wander the world hoping to curtail
further damage by obliterating weapons of mass destruction he slowly succumbs
to the sickness taking over his fevered rabid mind. Ares may not live to see
the glory of Olympus restored nor fight to keep his Wife. If he does, how high
will be the price for Ares' life? How long will Alena have to keep paying
Apollo even once Ares is crowned King of Olympus?
. "Stay, just for now," Lenore
invited as she searched out his lips with her own and his firm ass with her
hands. Never knowing she could feel this
way, so carefree, so weightless, and ethereal, she wanted more as much as she
possibly get.
Grinding his hips into hers Raven groaned. "And if this lasts longer than
that?" Although it wasn't by much
Raven was the more experienced of the two and it hadn't felt like this with
Jillios or Aphrodite, the epitome of Love, Beauty, and Desire. Without doubt or reservation, in this moment
and for every moment afterward, Raven was sure he would die for the woman below
him. He would die to defend her and to
keep her by his side. "I want you,
woman, not just for now. I want you. If you don't want me past this moment say it
now."
Everything Lenore had ever believed and been taught
collided inside of her. Men were bad,
Olympians most of all, they were horrible, they were violent, they warred, they
raped, they destroyed, and they subjugated.
Yet his kiss was so unusual, so sensual, so strong, and inviting. The scent of him was making her head light it
made her heart race and the empty space between her legs gush with dew. Her mouth watered and the last thing she
wanted was to say 'no' so she didn't.
"Far past this moment, Raven, My Lor—"
Raven's mouth clamped down over hers before she could
finish saying 'My Lord' as they were words he didn't want to hear rising from
her tempting lips. His soft young hands
ran over her supple breasts with their hard nipples and then down to the
waistband of her jeans. No asking, he
simply threw open the button fly and then yanked them down her slender hips
throwing off her light-weight suede boots with them until she was almost
completely bare before him. The musky
scent of her rose in the musty scent of the old clapboard house that had
probably stood since the early 1900's, his eyes grew wide as her legs parted in
welcome. "If you're going to say 'no' you better do it now, Leni, while I
can still--."
Lisa lives in her hometown of New
London, CT with her husband of 28 years, Roy. Together the two have raised two
adult daughters and, as of this writing, are anxiously awaiting the arrival of
their first grandchild.
