Paging Dr. Hot by Sophia Knightly Justine's rating: 4.5 of 5 stars I have more than once crowned Ms. Knightly as my Queen of the Classic Contemporary Reads, and Paging Dr. Hot did NOT disappoint! On the contrary, she even had a few surprises this time around. In the past, our lead hunk never had competition before. She also mixed it up giving us the uber adorable Romeo’s POV, Francesca’s super cute mini dachshund. Luckily, one aspect that never changes with Ms. K, is her beautifully crafted HEAs. Adam by Teresa Gabelman Justine's rating: 5 of 5 stars By now, you all know I am not one to pull punches on reviews. Which sometimes can suck when you know the author and love the series. That said, I was dreading reading Adam! (Not that I let anyone know) See, I never really connected with the character, so the thought of a WHOLE book about him… you get where I’m going with this. Of course that was not the case! Ms. G should have named it The Protectors with a Side of Adam! Yes, we got to see Adam’s happily ever after, but I never felt overwhelmed by his story. Reading this book to my own six-year-old, was a delight.   We were kept entertained, not only by the humour, but by the wonderful illustrations too. The storyline enabled me to open up really useful discussions with my child, that were effortless and pressure free. And by the end of the read, I felt positive the story had created an important impact on my child. Pinkaboos: Butterfly and the Giant Problem is a book I'll happily re-read with my child and has my 'mum' seal of approval.

To Touch The Sun by Laura Enright Lorry's rating: 4 of 5 stars A gripping tale that steps away from the romanticism of being a vampire, and makes you think twice about what it is to have an immortal existence thrust upon you, whether you like it not. In a refreshing new approach to the vampire genre we meet three vampires, all turned during the bloody battles of the World War, and how for each of them, having followed a different path, are suddenly thrown back together again. The mercenary who’s made a profit, the adaptable who’s made a life and the lost and lonely who just wants the nightmare to end. Brought together by one woman, whose lifetime of research may have discovered a formula to that could change or, ultimately, end their existence. Beautifully written, although with a tendency to indulge in back story from time to time. This is definitely a novel for those who’ve had enough of the sparkly vampire variety.
