Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Fairies
What was immediately refreshing with Change is that Melissa Stevens is very adamant that this is a novel about shape-shifters not werewolves. Don't get me wrong, I love werewolves, but I really liked that this book was based on a race of shifters who are in control of their actions, behaviour and thoughts, and are not simply driven by the moon.
In the novel, we are introduced to a well-rounded character Nickie, who is likeable and easy to cheer for. We are additionally introduced to an interesting world of the Kitsune, and two noteworthy male characters. What I liked was that the love interest was not immediately predictable; it took many twists and turns.
I really enjoyed Change. It is well crafted with an interesting plot development. The only thing that I struggled with a little was the dialogue. At times, it wasn't overly free flowing and was a little formal. However, this did not take away any of the pleasure I had following the characters or action.
