Sweat beaded up on my forehead; my neck felt sticky. After what felt like forever, the screaming trailed off taking the other noises with it. I pressed the phone to my ear trying to hear anything. Anything that would let me know my father was okay. “Hello, are you there? Hello!” Crimson Grove by Ashley Robertson

Rating: 4 out of 5 Fairies
Crimson Groves captivated me from the beginning and constantly delved into the unexpected; I was continually surprised by the plot and character development. Ashley Robertson very successfully weaves an interesting tale of action, intrigue and romance, all with a paranormal twist.
I really liked Abby's character and cheered her from the sidelines (fairly vocally at times). Additionally, I was sucked in by Bronx and Tyler's characters; this impressed me somewhat considering the character development that focuses on these two male characters in particular.
The story is well crafted. I especially enjoyed the plot structure and how the author unfolded the key events. I wasn't always convinced by Tyler's voice. His persona, as portrayed by his dialogue, was somewhat childlike; he regularly sounded more like a 15 year old boy as opposed to a man.
On the whole, I really enjoyed Crimson Groves, and give it a highly recommended 4 fairies!
***I've also read book two, Crimson Flames - Bex 'n' Books rated 4.5 fairies!
