Release Day Review: Tattered Love - Lola Stark

Reviewer: Bex
Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies
Tattered Love is a truly fantastic debut novel from an author set to take the indie scene by storm. The formulation of the storyline from concept, to character creation, to plot development is beautifully executed. There was barely amount that I had the chance to gasp for air and recover, not only a result of the fast-perfect pace, but also by my unwillingness to put this engrossing read down. In some books, a fast pace can be an issue, but not in Tattered Love. The speed simply works. It adds to the unfolding drama and action, and as a result, successfully helps to deliver a hot-as-Hades contemporary romance.

We are introduced to the two main characters Scarlett and Mace. It's a challenge to pinpoint which character I had a crush on the most, both are superb three-dimensional characters who are fiery, passionate and flawed. That's part of the beauty of this book - how truly real the characters are in a world on paper. The author, Lola Stark, has an impressive eye for detail and is skilled in the art of character motivation and development; she brought her characters to life in a wholly believable way.

I laughed. I cried. I cringed and I whole heatedly fell in love with the author's style and world that she created. Tattered Love was a pleasure to read. I cannot wait until we venture further into this series and discover more about Lola Stark's remarkable characters.

Tattered Love (Needle's Kiss, #1)
Blurb
When ex-Special Ops bad-ass Mace walks into Needle's Kiss tattoo parlor, he never expected to find the girl who would turn his life upside down.

Hard as nails Scarlett has been unlucky in love: she’s been burnt, chewed up and spat out. Reluctant to have another relationship, can she keep her wits about her when hot-as-sin Mace walks into her tattoo parlor? Or will he break her down and leave his mark within her ink?

What starts out as a little fun, turns into something so much more.

Can Scarlett look beyond Mace's devastating past or will his demons come back to haunt them both.

Content warning: contains steamy, anything-goes sex, an alcohol induced embarrassing night out and two headstrong lovers taken on a whirlwind of crazy.

After back-packing through Europe during collage breaks she wanted to try living there. Where better way to continue with her love affair with wine. This book was smart, sassy and fun.
