I absolutely, positively love this book. The characters are so real. The struggles they dealt with were so real. The love they displayed and how they displayed it was so real. Everything was SO REAL. And I loved it all the more because of it. It was almost as if I was reading a very well written autobiography, only it was all complete fiction. I started this book before work. Snuck in some while AT work. Allowed my husband to drive so that I could read more (and that's saying a lot, especially since it was my car). And upon arriving back home finished it. I did not want to put this book down from start to finish. Now on to my review of the story line and characters.
I absolutely loved these characters.
Seth is an amazing father, and I fell in love even more with him when I started reading how he was interacting with his three children. He is honestly everything a father should be. He is stern when needed, but oh so loving and affectionate as well. He was creative enough to play with little ole Megan, but man enough to teach life lessons and ease up on Conner. He is the true definition of a dad. And a damn good lover with Mae.
Mae is a caring nurse that is amazing with everyone. She has the patience and forgiveness of a saint and the nurturing and kindness of an angel. She is open, confident, and just down-to-earth. She loves those three children like they were her own and doesn't push Seth to far over the death of his wife. She's keeps her arms and mind open to every possibility and tries to do everything to the best of her ability. How she handles the drama with Conner is quick and witty. She handled it well in my book. No harm had occurred.
Now if only the blow-up with Seth hasn't happened...now that scene caused Daddy-O to lose a few brownie points with me. He blew up like a true Irishman. In the end I know that it made them confront their feelings a heck of a lot quicker. But honestly, because of it he almost missed out on the best thing that coulda happened to him and those kids. Especially sweet, sweet Megan. Thank goodness Conner flipped the table and fed his dad some advice for once. Advice Seth had fed him many times, I'm sure, during his fights with Aiden. Conner displayed many characteristics that show he is gonna be a fine young man when he grows up, both physically and emotionally. He has one amazing role model.
I can't praise this book enough. Honestly. I can seriously say it takes a lot to make me say "5-Star Job Well Done!!!" And I did without batting an eyelash on this book....now on to Three Of Spades. Oh, I can't wait to fall in love more with these characters...

Synopsis
Mae Turney is searching for the type of life and happiness she has never known but has only dreamed about. She's fortunate enough to find a great opportunity to live in an exterior apartment of a beautiful lake house in a small town in Vermont. When she realizes the apartment and scenery are not the only gorgeous appeal but the home owner, Seth Finn, is as well, she puts it all on the line for the chance at love. When she becomes comfortable and confident in her own skin and sexuality, Mae realizes that this place and this man is exactly what she came looking for. Knowing Seth and his three children are as special as they come, Mae bets the house, and prays she and her gamble are enough.
