Review: Trapped by George A. Bernstein

Reviewer: Emily
Rating: 4 out of 5 Fairies
Trapped was one of the most heart wrenching books that I have ever read. It tells the story of a young woman that is left paralyzed after a surgical “mishap”.

Jackee and her boys are in a terrible accident that left her face covered in scars. During facial reconstructive surgery, she becomes paralyzed. She is only able to blink her eyes, but she can understand everything that is going on.

This is her story. We get to see inside her mind. A mind yearning for freedom from the prison of her useless body. Her story is moving and courageous but also extremely sad.

Jackee is married to a sadistic man. He is happy that his wife was left completely unable to care for herself. Watching the way he treated her was chilling.

There is a bit of a love story between Jackee and her therapist Kevin. To me, the romance was only a small part of the story. It was sweet but unnecessary. All we need was her story. The story of a woman coming to terms with what life has thrown at her.

There was a paranormal sub-plot, but that also took a back seat to Jackee's tale. She could use her mind to interact with others. It was an interesting twist though.

Overall, it was a very good book. I shed a few tears, that is always a sign of a winner! There were a few negatives. The ending was a bit rushed. I kind of had trouble understanding why the “cat wasn’t let out of the bag” until the last page. It would have been more interesting if it had been played out a little longer. I also did not like the love triangle. I never do. So, this is a personal thing and others might love it.

Would I recommend this book? Yes. Especially if you are looking for a tear jerker!
Synopsis

The darkness is still, silent. Jackee Maren’s heart pounds reverberating through her body as fear sears her veins. Someone’s coming. No way out. This time they will kill me. Her breath is short, her chest burns. Must run. Faster. Faster! Her eyes fly open, her heart still racing with blinding fear. Jackee breathes deeply with relief and stares at the ceiling desperately trying to calm herself. The same dream. Something, someone is watching . . . and waiting.

A tragic car accident leaves beautiful, vibrant Jackee Maren in “Locked-in Syndrome,” completely paralyzed, able to move only her eyes. Jackee’s physical therapist, Kevin, seems more invested in her well-being than her husband, Phil, and teaches her to communicate by blinking her eyes.

Soon she discovers she has the ability to sense others thoughts, but hides this talent from everyone, but her sons, not knowing who she can trust. Then she discovers her car accident was no accident, and vows to expose the person who wants her dead before they get a second chance. Exercising her new psychic ability, Jackee finally learns who masterminded the accident, but feels helpless to stop them from trying to kill her again.
Fading physically, she doggedly embarks on a psychic plan to not only ensure her boys are safe forever, but to exact revenge on her would-be murderer.

Jackee vows not to rest until this killer understands what it is to be TRAPPED! But she must hurry, with only months left to live.

Review: Embraced (Enduring Kiss #4) - C.E. Black

Embraced by C.E. Black Ann's rating: 5 of 5 stars Read as a standalone.  This is a fantastic book. It is an easy read but don’t start reading it too late at night or you will probably end up with a book hangover. It is very difficult to put down. Sean is a lost wolf. The woman he loves has married another man, and he is heartbroken. To relieve his suffering, he decides to get out of town and have a drink or two, then he meets Sarah. Sarah is a business owner of a bakery called Decadent Delights and her life seems to be going just the way she wants…until she meets Sean at the bar. Instantly there is an overwhelming attraction and she takes him home with her. Hot animalistic sex occurs (pun intended since Sean is a werewolf). But Sean leaves after one night. He can’t stay because Sarah is human and humans don’t mate with wolves. Two months later, Sarah has a major surprise and goes looking for Sean. And then the fun really begins. This story has sorrow, angst, anger but als...

ARC Review: The Charmed Fates by Christine Wenrick

Tomorrow is the release day of Christine Wenrick's 'The Charmed Fates', the final installment of her amazing trilogy.  We'd like to say a HUGE congratulations to Christine on the amazing success of her fabulous trilogy. Reviewer: Em Rating: 5/5 Wow, oh wow!! This book  didn’t disappoint me one iota. I opened to the first page to be induced and transported back into the world of Caleb, Olivia, Jax and Gemma. I started to read and couldn’t put the book down. I wasn’t surprised as I had had the same experience with the first two books, the storyline wrapped around me and enfolded me thoroughly taking me on the journey.
