Book Blurb:
While collaborating on a fashion show, Samantha Hammond, a forty-something Display Manager, draws the attention of the mysterious clothing designer Valerie Ross. Samantha’s journey of self-discovery takes her from the security of her hometown in Lexington, Ohio to the shores of a secluded paradise called Sabbatical Island.
As their relationship flourishes, Samantha learns that Valerie harbors a terrifying secret. The revelation thrusts Samantha into a nightmarish world where vampires and witches dwell in the darkness. Pamela Darius, a murderous adversary from Valerie’s past, uses Samantha and those around her as pawns in a deadly game filled with seduction, pain, betrayal, and death.
About the Author:
Robert is a fan of all things relating to vampires. It’s this obsession with vampires that makes his debut, “Valerie: Daughter of the Dragon”, the perfect vehicle to launch his writing career. Robert was born and raised in Northeast Ohio at a time when late night television stations filled their programming with old horror movies. Robert gravitated towards the motion picture vampire, but also the vampires depicted in the writings of Stephen King, F. Paul Wilson, and Robert McCammon.
Robert worked at JC Penney’s, where he spent 10 years in the Visual Display Department. His love of vampires, and a decade in the retail/fashion industry, provided the inspiration to create his own vampire tale. After several years of writing and re-writing, “Valerie: Daughter of the Dragon” was born.
When Robert isn’t writing, he enjoys going to the movies, or listening to his extensive music collection. Robert is a huge sports fan, but prefers football and baseball to all other sports. One of his favorite pastimes is participating as team owner and Commissioner of a long running fantasy football league. Robert manages to travel to the beaches of South Carolina at least once a year to recharge and enjoy some ocean time. Robert is married to his best friend and soulmate, Jackie. They have a son, Dustin, and two rambunctious cats, Meeps and Benny.

“Can you still read my thoughts?” Samantha asks taking a deep breath and preparing for the sensation of Valerie entering her mind. Valerie nods cautiously.
“Can you still read my thoughts?” Samantha asks taking a deep breath and preparing for the sensation of Valerie entering her mind. Valerie nods cautiously.
“Then
read them now before they change,” Samantha says closing her eyes and feeling
dizzy for a moment and then suddenly euphoric.
Valerie
pauses as she lets her thoughts mingle with Samantha’s. The reason for
Samantha’s sly grin quickly becomes clear. Valerie is overcome with excitement,
as she reads Samantha’s most intimate thoughts regarding the two of them.
Samantha wants her to make love to her until they fall asleep in each other’s
arms.
“Dance
with me first,” Valerie states standing and holding her hand out. Samantha is
tentative at first, but reaches out taking Valerie’s hand, as her heart pounds
with anticipation of Valerie holding her close. As they approach the dance
floor, her eagerness turns to fear, as she thinks that someone she knows may
see them. She tries to turn and walk away, but Valerie snakes her arm around
Samantha’s waist and pulls her close.
“Don’t worry. The dance
floor is empty and no one is paying attention,”
Valerie explains feeling Samantha’s sudden hesitancy.
Samantha
looks up from the ground, surprised to see the dance floor is indeed empty. She
and Valerie turn towards each other and embrace. Standing at the outer edge of
the dance floor, the band begins to play a slow ballad, allowing them to sway
in time with the music. Their palms touch, sending chills cascading through
Samantha’s body. Valerie’s seductive gaze never leaves Samantha, as they boldly
step into the center of the dance floor and Samantha takes the plunge,
surrendering herself to Valerie. Samantha’s body nearly melts as Valerie
envelops her in a passionate embrace, letting the music carry them around the open
dance floor. Their bodies slowly become one.
Gliding along with the music, lost in each other, Samantha releases the last of her resistance and totally gives in to Valerie. She presses her body against Valerie, enjoying its refreshing coolness. Samantha’s head swims, partially from the wine, but mostly from Valerie’s intoxicating power over her. Taking a deep exhilarating breath, she chooses to immerse herself in Valerie’s exotic fountain. She lays her head on Valerie’s shoulder, nuzzling up against her.
“Take me home,”
Samantha whispers into Valerie’s mind, no longer able to hold back and deny her
body its rampant desire.
Valerie steps back momentarily, breaking their
hold, as she smiles down at Samantha. She nods in agreement and swiftly leads
Samantha back to the table as if they are walking on clouds far above the
ground. Valerie settles the bill, which includes a nice size tip for their
waiter, and picks up their jackets, before leading Samantha out into the night.
Hand in hand they are finally ready to face whatever destiny has waiting for
them.
