Review & Giveaway: Ruby Blue Series - Julie Cassar

Reviewer: Justine
Ratings: Ruby Blue (book 1)-  2.5 fairies
Deja Blue (book 2)- 3  fairies
Sky Blue (book 3)- 4 fairies
Forever Blue (book 4/end of series)
What do you do when you have a preteen who loves to read but every book you touch has content too mature for the 10 - 13 age frame? Well, if your Julie Cassar, you write your own.

Miss Cassar has done something simply beautiful, given us a true family read. A complete series of books that both parent and child can enjoy. The Ruby Blue Series allows you a vehicle to bring up important topics such as homosexuality, boyfriends, and sex. This is done by giving us a quirky, silly, lovable, gay best friend and a lot of mild-team drama. But the true beauty of this series is with each book, it grows and matures. Book one starts with a reading level and content that puts it just out of reach of a children's book. With each succeeding book, the series grows in both difficulty and storyline. Allowing you to read enjoy and decide when they have the age and understanding for the next book.
Now, keep in mind these ratings are for an adult reading this series. Now, if I was looking at the series through the eyes of a young reader, in the preteen age frame, these ratings would be much higher.

Ruby Blue(book 1)-  2.5 fairies
Deja Blue (book 2)- 3  fairies
Sky Blue (book 3)- 4 fairies
Forever Blue (book 4/end of series)

As you can see, I had difficulty connecting with book one, due too it's very young story line; but with each book that Ruby matured, I grew to love her more and more myself.
Meet Ruby. She’s your average (somewhat dorky) ice-cream eating, garden-loving teenager, who is constantly being annoyed by her little brother, is best friends with possibly the only Goth kid in town and, oh yeah…she sees fairies.

After Nick Martino (possibly the hottest guy she’s ever known) finally asks her out, she can barely manage a two-word sentence when a bizarre incident strikes their lakeside town.Stumbling bare-foot through some interesting dates, will she ever find love? And what does Ruby do when more strange events continue to occur? Will she keep her gift of Fairy Sight a secret? As an ancient myth unfolds and new mystic fairy tales come to life, Ruby and her menagerie of friends tackle some extraordinary circumstances with her very ordinary abilities in this modern day fairy tale. See what legends come to life in “Ruby Blue,” a young adult fantasy fiction novel and the first installment of the Ruby Blue series.

ARC Review: The Charmed Fates by Christine Wenrick

Tomorrow is the release day of Christine Wenrick's 'The Charmed Fates', the final installment of her amazing trilogy.  We'd like to say a HUGE congratulations to Christine on the amazing success of her fabulous trilogy. Reviewer: Em Rating: 5/5 Wow, oh wow!! This book  didn’t disappoint me one iota. I opened to the first page to be induced and transported back into the world of Caleb, Olivia, Jax and Gemma. I started to read and couldn’t put the book down. I wasn’t surprised as I had had the same experience with the first two books, the storyline wrapped around me and enfolded me thoroughly taking me on the journey.
