Interview & Giveaway with Charlie Daye

We have great pleasure in welcoming Charlie Daye to Bex 'n' Books. We've only just discovered this wonderful author and can't wait to get wrapped up in her wonderful books.

Charlie Daye began writing at the tender age of thirteen. With an obsession for romance, happy endings and the supernatural she delves into your greatest fantasies and worst nightmares.

Charlie Daye was born in Lynwood, California. Her greatest passions are music and writing. Her first short story was written at the age of thirteen. At the time her entire class was asked to write a short story for Halloween as part of a homework assignment. Most of the kids in the class wrote one to two page stories... Charlie wrote eight. The short story titled The Haunted House went on to win her district wide awards and was published locally. From their she began writing poetry as means of expression.

After that, her writing career dropped off until she decided to write her first novel... The House. The house is the first book in her paranormal romance trilogy The Curse Breaker's. The second book in the series is set for release winter 2012.

Her inspiration comes from everywhere, and all of her friends have already been warned... "If I find your escapades interesting I might use them in my next book."

1.Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hmmm…. Well, I married, no children, but I do have an American Bulldog named Tinkerbell who acts like an oversized baby. I have two BFF’s both of which I have based characters off of. One I’ve known since grade school the other since high school. My favorite color is blue, my favorite food is pizza, and my favorite author is Dean Koontz. I’ve read his book Intensity at least five times. I love action movies, and if my house was big enough, I’d create my own personal library.

2.What inspired you to write your first book?
My first book was The House. At the time I started writing it I was working in a cemetery and the office was haunted. After several run ins with the paranormal I decided to use that as inspiration to create a story about a woman who lived in a haunted house. Once I began writing the story took on a life of its own.

3.You have written a wide range of books. Do you have a favourite?
This is a hard one but if I had to choose just one, I would have to go with The Gypsy’s Dance. I just love the characters I created in this book.

4.Describe your favourite or most recent main character in five words.
Strong, deadly, sexy, brave, honorable

5.What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

You need very thick skin. No everyone is going to love what you write, and some people can be downright mean when they write a review, but it’s just part of the life of writer and is something you have to learn to accept.

6. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
I don’t have an exact schedule when I write. I write when the mood strikes whether it be in the middle of the day or the middle of the night. If there’s an idea itching to be written it won’t let me rest till I do.

7. What book are you reading now?
Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning

8. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I write paranormal romance novels. I love creating worlds and people. I’d love to share my world with you and hope that you love my books and my characters. I’ll always give you a HEA (happily ever after) but the road to get there is a journey worth taking.

Random Questions:

1. What’s in your fridge right now?

Practically nothing, I haven’t had the chance to go grocery shopping yet.

2. What song do you sing at the top of your voice every time you hear it?
Killing Me Softly

3. Other than writing, what special or unusual talent(s) do you have?
I can sing

4. Where did you last go on holiday?
California

5. If your house was attacked by feral aliens, and they were zapping your house with their Über super bombs, what five items would you save?
My grandfather’s military service flag, my kindle, Tinkerbell, my baby tote and my tote filled with family pictures.

6. If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Inside the Chaotic Mind of Charlie Daye
