I have to admit I read this book in one setting! It began a little slowly and at some points it was choppy and a little hard to follow, but that was soon all cleared up. From the time we are introduced to Katie, our heroine, the book takes off at full speed and it is a wonderful ride!! I had to laugh out loud at Katie's introduction scene! It definitely reminded me of a situation I would be in. Little does Katie know her day is about to go from bad to worse! A child she doesn't remember having shows, a trip to the police station and a visit from a "death dealer" and all before her coffee! As the story unfolds, Lizzy Ford does a great job of showing how absolutely strong and resilient Katie is. She keeps her head up and her quick wits about her even when she is thrown into Hell and nicknamed "Lunchmeat" by the other inmates!
When Rhyn "meets" Katie he knows she is HIS! The only problem is they are stuck in Hell and there is no way out! Oh and Katie's "special qualities" make her a beacon to all the immortal crazies out there! Once they are free, the real adventure begins. Rhyn is your typical brooding hero with no social skills and a caveman mentality, but the dynamic character of Katie that Ms. Ford has created more than makes up and actually brings Rhyn into the 21st century and makes him more and more likable as the story progresses.
The ending took me by surprise and made me immediately look for parts 2 and 3 of the series! Ms. Ford has created a great series!!
