Blog Tour Review, Interview & GIVEAWAY: Bewitch (#5) by Felicity Heaton

We have a real treat for you today. As part of Felicity Heaton's Bewitch Tour, we have put together a review of Bewitch, we also have an insightful interview with the amazing Felicity, plus we have a giveaway and a link to the HUGE giveaway being held by Felicity on her website.
Have fun, and be sure to enter our giveaway at the end of the post.
BewitchBewitch, the 5th installment to +Felicity Heaton's super hot series, follows the delectable Payne. Once again, the author manages to keep each story fresh  by offering a new angle, new characters whilst also integrating past vampires and their mates that we lust after.

The story of Payne and Elissa reaches a new level of heat, this is with the inclusion of light BDSM. The inclusion is absolutely paramount to the intriguing Payne, who is so damaged and delicate, despite his hardened exterior.

The heat created between the two characters is almost palpable. This, teamed with an exciting storyline, continues to successfully drive Felicity Heaton's series forward.

The author skillfully weaves her characters together into a story that was fast-paced and filled with surprises. Her ability to develop strong narratives, with beautifully crafted one-liners, forever impresses me. Her creation of two powerful characters in Bewitch is impressive.
Whilst this is not my favourite in the series, I was absorbed throughout, and audible cheered on the sidelines for the two wonderful protagonists in Bewitch.

If you are looking for a  spicy hot, paranormal romance with characters that you will fall in lust and love with, be sure to check out the Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series.

Goodreads Synopsis
A vampire with a past stained with blood and a soul tainted with darkness, he is perfect in his self-control, never surrendering to his darkest desires. Now a beautiful witch in the shadowy fae underworld threatens to reawaken long denied hungers and tempts him with carnal pleasure.

Payne despises the incubus side of his mixed genes and refuses to give it free rein, but when the wickedly sexy Elissa offers him a possible way to help a friend, he finds it difficult to resist paying the price, even if it will be his undoing—one night of passion at her command.

Elissa is a witch down on her luck until Payne comes crashing into her life. The dangerously handsome male is the key to fulfilling a promise she made, but he is also forbidden, and surrendering to the wildfire passion he stirs within her means risking ruin and death.

When one incredible night of fulfilling their deepest fantasies leads to more than just a pathway to keeping a promise and saving a friend, will they be able to overcome the barriers that stand between them and forever?

Hi Felicity, I can’t believe this is the first time that I’ve interviewed you, especially since I’ve become somewhat obsessed with you and your work over the last 2 years (bloody Nora, did I just say that out loud?). *cough cough* Right, where was I, so I’m having a total fan freaking girl moment! For those who follow our Facebook page in particular, you’ll all know that I think Felicity Heaton and her flipping amazing Vampire Erotic Theatre Series is so freaking, bloody well AMAZING. So I have great delight *squeal* in setting up this interview with the Goddess super-speed writer commonly known as Felicity Heaton!

So, thanks for taking the time out to answer a few questions. Hopefully, our lovely followers will also be able to discover a little bit more about you and how awesome both you and your series are!
***
Bex: For those followers who’ve been hiding under a rock or are new to our page, could you please just tell us a little bit about yourself.
Felicity: Sure I can. I’m a paranormal romance writer, although I do also dabble in science fiction romance. I’ve been writing since 2005, and went indie in 2006, before all the cool kids were doing it. I’ve written over forty-five books in my career as a writer, and around forty of those are still available. I love to write passionate paranormal romances, with high-octane action, intense emotion, and heroes who will make your toes curl! At the moment, I have three major series on the go. That’s the Vampire Erotic Theatre series that you’re squealing about, with the delicious heroes of Vampirerotique, London’s premier naughty theatre for vampires. The Her Angel series with my take on sexy passionate angels determined to protect their women from a terrible game between Heaven and Hell. And finally the Vampires Realm series I write as F E Heaton, which is packed with twisting plots, vampires to die for, and is a huge world encompassing ten books at present.

Bex: Tricky this one, hence the reason why I’m asking you to do it, and I’m not going to do it myself! Mwah! In 50 words or less, sum up your Vampire Erotic Theatre Series.
Felicity: Heavens. I can probably do it in one. Delicious! I’ll be serious now. Summing up the Vampire Erotic Theatre series in 50 words or less: Step into the decadent world of Vampirerotique, where powerful alpha vampires meet passionate women determined to bring them to their knees and claim their hearts in wildfire romances so hot they scorch the pages and will make you burn for the next book.
Sound good? I hope so!

Bex: Okay, now we’ve established that, I have to know, which book in your Vampire Erotic Theatre Series is your favourite so far? I know it’s like asking a mother…yadda…yadda…yadda, but seriously which one and a why if possible? (Mine is Seduce with Antoine. It’s so not what I expected from Antoine’s character, plus it’s superhot and sexy. You took the series to a whole new level of awesomeness for me!)
Felicity: Thanks. I’m sure Antoine and Sera are pleased to hear that you loved their book the most. I get the inside track on the series and the characters because I know what is going to happen before everyone else, and I’ve had a soft spot for Payne ever since he arrived at Vampirerotique at the end of Seduce. Payne is a dark horse and I know that bad boy’s secrets, and it was hard to keep them to myself. Of course, they’re out in the open now in his book, Bewitch. I loved Seduce too, but Bewitch is now my favourite in the series. Of course, there’s still Unleash to come, which is the final book in the series. That book might challenge my love of Bewitch, but I still think Snow ranks second to Payne, although I wouldn’t say no to either of them. Would you?

Bex: I love the variety of characters that you have created in your Vampire Erotic Theatre Series. The women’s sassiness, the gorgeous broodiness of the men and general awesomeness all tied in with an edge of sexy as hell is a pretty impressive achievement. Which character(s) do you relate to the most, or maybe see elements of yourself in?
Felicity: That’s a tricky one. I think I put a little slice of myself and my character into all my heroes and heroines. I probably relate to Varya aka Chica the most. She’s a succubus with a sassy and mischievous edge, and the heroine of Enslave. I think she gets that sense of mischief from me, as well as her dress sense. She’s all for the alternative clothing. I’m big on that myself. I’m stubborn too, so maybe there’s a bit of me in Sera, Lilah and Elissa too. All of them refused to let their hero have his way and wouldn’t stop until they had won his heart.

Bex: Of course I have to ask, why do you think Snow has become a fan favourite? What is it about him do you think that gets us all going (me included!)?
Felicity: You know, I don’t know. He doesn’t know either. It mystifies him. I think it’s the fact that he has a terrible affliction called bloodlust and spends a large amount of his time completely insane and under the influence of it, unable to control himself, but he is still extremely noble, and will do anything to protect those he cares about. His bloodlust is so bad that he has to literally chain himself up to protect everyone at the theatre, and his younger brother Antoine in particular.
Snow has been popular from the moment he burst onto the scene in Covet, the first book in the series. I think he appealed to women everywhere then because he was noble, protective, and very broken. The man is seeking his death as punishment for his sins, and he has a dreadful air of finality about him sometimes. I have a theory that women around the world want to give him a big cuddle and be the one to fix him and turn his life around, giving him something good and warm in it to counteract the bad. They ache to see him finally defeat his bloodlust and find himself a female who can save him.

Bex: I know that you are so much more than this one wonderful series that I keep harping on about, tell us a little about what else you have created.
Felicity: I’ve written other series, as mentioned above. The Her Angel series is also really popular and is a very different take on angels. All of them are male and they’re very passionate and protective of the women who steal their hearts. They’re also caught up in an eternal game between Heaven and Hell, and it’s a world where good and evil isn’t white and black. Lines are blurred. At the moment, there are five books in the series. Three of them are novellas. Two are novels. I’m working on the next book now, planning it out so I can begin writing it soon. It’s a really epic world that keeps surprising me.
The Vampires Realm series has a huge fan base of readers eager for the next installment and I’m glad for that as it’s one of my favourite series to write because there are so many characters waiting for their story to be told and the world is huge, giving me infinite directions I can take the series in.
I also have plenty of stand alone paranormal romance books. Some of them are actually my favourite stories I’ve written, such as Heart of Darkness (which is a 2013 Epic Ebook Award finalist), Love Immortal and Forbidden Blood. I love to write series because I get to play again and again in the same world, but that doesn’t mean I don’t create huge worlds for my stand alone books too. I think many of my stand alone books could easily become the start of a series. I obsessively world build in my books, crafting a place for readers to lose themselves in.

Bex: Why paranormal? Why do you love this genre so much?
Felicity: I’ve loved paranormal genre stuff since I was really young, like just starting to read young. I have book reports where I call every book boring unless it has vampires, werewolves, witches or monsters in it! I was hooked at an early age and it has stayed with me throughout my life. My passion for it only grew in strength when I read the classics as a teen, devouring Dracula and Frankenstein, and reading H P Lovecraft and Poe. I read classic romances too, like Jane Eyre, North and South, Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice too. I think I began to blend those two very separate genres, falling for vampires and other creatures of the night, imagining worlds where they existed. They’ve always fascinated me and I’m happiest when I’m writing about them because I love doing something different, twisting accepted norms into something new, playing with mythical creatures and history. It’s amazing fun and I can spend hours just figuring out the finer details about the breed of vampires in a series, or crafting their world, layering in the details that makes it feel real to readers. In paranormal, the possibilities are endless, only limited by my imagination, and my imagination loves to push the boundaries.

Bex: If there is one thing that you learned since you started self-publishing that you wish you knew when you first started out, what would that be? And can you talk a little about some mistakes you might have made as a self-publisher so that others don’t make the same mistakes?
Felicity: I think that I was fortunate to avoid the biggest mistake that most new authors make. Completing a book is exciting, even when you’re completing your forty-fifth. It’s really tempting to take your first book, polish it up, and put it out there, because you want the world to see your work. In reality, it’s probably the worst move you can make. More often than not, the first book you write is not as wonderful as you think it is and if you’re serious about writing and planning to make a career of it, you’re probably only doing yourself damage. The business calls them trunk novels. These are the books that you don’t ever publish because they’re the books you write as you’re learning the craft. Most authors write two or three of these books, honing their craft, learning from mistakes they make in each, coming to recognize the areas they need to work on before they write the book that they
actually release into the world. If you release the first thing you write, the chances are you’re releasing something that you’ll look back at in two years, or maybe even less, and cringe at, and it’s out there, and you can’t do anything about it now. Readers judge you on your books, and if the first book you put out is poor quality, with flaws, plot holes and two-dimensional characters, you’ve automatically lost a huge slice of readers who probably won’t pick up another book by you even if you do take the time to learn your craft and hone it.
I was fortunate because I started out in fanfiction, writing about a favourite TV show. I spent two years doing that, writing over one million words of fiction. Believe me, I look back at those million words and I cringe! But I learned a lot about writing, and when I decided to start writing original fiction, I took the time to read books on the craft and learn from them, improving my abilities before I dared to write another book and pitch it to a publisher. I always urge new writers to do the same if they’re serious about writing and producing a quality book that will please readers. Learn the craft, read books, attend courses. Do whatever it takes to get your game up to par and then write… and then find a great critique partner or group who knows their stuff and have them look it over and help you. They’re invaluable tools for every author. As a writer, you’re too close to your work to notice when it sucks. Having someone read it and point out all the bits you missed, need to improve, need to remove, or generally clarify, is completely invaluable.

Bex: What are some of your favourite things to do outside of writing?
Felicity: I love to draw when I can but I find I rarely have the time. I find it really relaxing and I think many people on my Facebook have seen the doodles of my characters and others that I’ve posted in my photo albums. I also love to play on my PS3, watch anime and read manga, and read novels. I’m a movie junkie too, and I’m also learning Japanese, so that tends to keep me really busy. I don’t get much time outside writing though. I tend to pull 10 hour days most days of the week.

Bex: What are five books that you recommend reading?
Felicity: If we’re talking non-writing and paranormal romance, I would definitely recommend reading a few series. I love the Midnight Breeds series by the talented Lara Adrian. I didn’t like the first book all that much but the second one rocked, and after that I was hooked. I’m heavily into the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. Delicious demon-infested immortal warriors? Yes, please! I also highly recommend the oh-so-sexy Demonica series by Larissa Ione and the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole. Yes, I know that I’ve just recommended about 30 books, but I think everyone should read these. I’ll add Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters series and we’ll call it ‘what are five series that you recommended reading’.

Bex: Is there anything you would like to say to our followers?
Felicity: Thanks for having me here and I really hope that you’ve learned more about me, my sexy heroes and sassy heroines, and my series. If anyone has any questions, please do leave them in a comment and I’ll be by to answer them. Be sure to check me out on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere too to learn more about my books.

Thank you, now just enough time for a few randoms! J

Do you ever write in your PJ’s? I write in my jogging bottoms / sweat pants and a cami top rather too regularly if I’m up against deadlines. Does that count?

Sleep in or get up early? I used to work a job where I was up at 6am every day to catch a train into London. I got used to early starts and they don’t bother me. I prefer to be up by 7am.

Pet peeves? Conceited people. I have a problem with people who love themselves and think they’re a gift to the world.

What did Santa bring you? A lot of movies, anime, and TV series on DVD, plus some books and games. My husband got me the new Assassin’s Creed games for my PS3 and PSVita. I’ll love him forever.

Cats or dogs? Cats if I have to choose, but I do like dogs too. I have a cat, so I have to go with the kitties or she’ll read this and claw me.

White wine or red? Rose. Got to be different, don’t I? I love rose wine, especially the Australian stuff and I had some really nice rose in New Zealand too.

Coffee or tea? I grew up a tea addict. Maybe because I’m British. I’m really into vanilla lattes now though and caramel macchiatos, but I try to be good and limit my intake. I’ve been on a coffee kick for months now but I’m swinging back around to a preference for tea again.

Favorite food?  Italian. Whether it’s pasta, pizza, or gelato!

Vanilla or chocolate ice cream? Chocolate. I’ll let you in on something though. If I had a choice, it would be cinnamon. I love cinnamon, and cinnamon ice cream is amazing.

What is a movie or TV show that you watched recently and really enjoyed? I’m watching Alphas at the moment, and it’s good, and also Person of Interest. I’m really into that one. I’m also following True Blood, but didn’t like the latest series, The Vampire Diaries and Arrow. I love Arrow!

Where can we STALK you?
